Question: What is the publishing history of Condors, your best-selling novel?
Question: What is the publishing history of Condors, your best-selling novel?
Answer: editions Condors are divided into legal and pirated. The first edition was made in Barcelona by Destination but as they Mercado had no distributor, and the book took flight from the start, the pirated editions that were not so easy to make at that time, began to abound so desperate.
. Otto Morales Benítez
helped me get a publisher to do a massive print run a year later to curb piracy. Guayaquil Ediciones Ariel did a print run of 300,000 copies of which only received a lump sum, no score and the book was sold at the cheapest price possible. Meanwhile Destination editions followed out. When I edited in Plaza y Janes (for Destiny said they did not edit that kind of books), Condors Plaza passed and began to take issues year after year. Recently made in that editorial issues in a popular format for ten years but always recorded as the seventh edition to not pay royalties and to continue publishing because it reminds me of copyright to complete this issue ... Thereafter the book is out published in El Ancora, Panamericana, Ballantine Books, Intermediate, Weather, Black Sheep and I do not know how many more. On those issues I still have paid fixed amounts. For the latter, who took the time I paid three million pesos for six months (one thousand U.S. dollars !!!). (See cover and details below)

If an account of the issues would be over the legal 60. Pirates of every day I get more surprises. I managed to complete in my library Alcañiz (you know where everything is envolata) almost 90 editions. While I was arrested I was carrying ten more. Since then I've got another nine more. Last week I found a different one at the Congress of Writers and Aranzazú Caicedonia the week had caught a different one rather than put me to sign but I could not buy or change.

Text the back cover of the book Condors do not bury daily. Gustavo Alvarez Gardeazábal. Library TIME. Series Colombia. 2003. No. 12. ( cover ).
Catholic, conservative, model citizen, is suddenly infected by the virus of sectarianism, and becomes a murderer, who heads a gang of murderers who are believed touched by the divine mission to exterminate the godless liberals. Condors do not bury every day gives novel is the story, and true, a real character, Leon Maria Lozano , nicknamed El Condor , which unleashed on the community of Tulua a wave of terror and death on behalf of "principles" political and religious, from above, ordered the persecution and slaughter of enemies, ie those who do not think like those who rule. And The Condor, which does not think alike or different, you just do not think, and that only because it is the perfect performer collective intimidation.
Gardeazábal Gustavo Alvarez was born in Tulua, Valle, 31 October 1945. Owner mordicante language, iconoclastic, his novels, which do not fall in the pamphlet, report many of the social and political vices of Colombia. At one point he was tempted by the desire to combine the letters with politics and was elected Mayor of Tulua (1994 -1997) and governor of the Valley (1998). In the exercise of this office was accused of embezzlement have financed his campaign with checks written by alleged drug dealers in the Valley. He was dismissed, imprisoned, tried and sentenced to a much greater severity to the seriousness of the charges against him, which led the protest of all the intellectual circles of the country. This does not detract insuceso no merit to his prolific novel, which should be noted Tara Pope (1971); Condors do not bury every day (1972), prize winner in Barcelona Manacor (1971 ) and filmed in the eighties by Francisco Norden, one of the best films of Colombia; EI Bazaar of the Idiots (1974); The silly and the Buddha (1976), The Puppeteer (1977), Tales of the Parque Boyacá ( 1978); Dabeiba (1978), Mine (1981), Pepe Bottles (1984), The Divine (1986); The last gamonal (1987), The deaf and do not speak (1991), Women of Death (2003). Dear friends
Cordial greetings. As reported on the book by Jonathan Tittle * Newspaper and Uden (No. 1 April-May 2008) * the novel "Condors do not bury every day" of GAG was written entirely in Torobajo.
We were looking for information and records in the web of the U. , http://www.udenar.edu.co/ on this issue and stay (June 1970-January 1972) of GAG in the U. Nariño and little was found. For research and compilations
we are doing to the conclusion that we project over 40 years "Condors" (1), many would appreciate if we collaborate by providing as much information as possible about the subject and stay GAG in Uden. One of the details we wanted to document, among many others, is what the "plaque in memory of this deed" and if possible get photographs of the site ("cubicle") and plate.
We anticipate our thanks. Sincerely,
