De senectute

While the world of the future is open to the imagination, and no longer belongs to you, the world of the past is one where through the remembrance you hide yourself, return to yourself, you rebuild your identity, which has been forming and revealing the continuing pattern of all acts of life, chained together, you judge, you absolve you condemn, and you can also try, when the lifetime is about to be completed, draw the bottom line. We must hurry. The old lives with memories and memories, but his memory is weakening day by day. Time progresses memory unlike the real one: the memories that surface in the most vivid recollection is both the more distant in time are those events. But you also know that what has been, or what you've been out of that bottomless pit, is but an infinitesimal part of the story of your life. Do not quit. Be sure to continue taking. Every face, every gesture, every word, every song by far that is, recovered when they seemed lost forever, help you survive.

THE WORLD OF MEMORY

.
Strangely, in these statements never appear the usual attitudes towards death: fear and hope. Fear acts against the taedium vitae, making death a desirable goal but not terrible. A hope, which can relieve the suffering in situations that seem hopeless, and is hoping to heal or be on the way to a new life, opposes Cupio dissolvi , or the desire to collapse, not to be. Taedium vitae and Cupio dissolvi have nothing to do, in turn, with contemptus mundi of the mystics, for whom life is just miserable but poverty is not the result of an indifferent God or evil, but of guilt, and contempt of the world is "the natural step to ascend to God." But to those who feel weary of life and yearns void, death is the longed rest after the huge and unnecessary fatigue life. Someone has written: "My life force is so exhausted and unable to see beyond the grave, and can not fear or desire nothing but death. I can not imagine a God so cruel to awaken one who is sleeping at his feet dead tired " (10).

The complacent old tradition of rhetoric and the old despair are two extreme attitudes . I've done emphasis on them to lead us to reflect once more on the variety of our moods to life in pluriverse of conflicting values \u200b\u200bin which we move, and hence the difficulty of understanding the world and within it, ourselves. Between these two extremes there are countless other ways of living old age: passive acceptance, resignation, indifference, camouflage who insists on not seeing his wrinkles and his weakness and imposing a mask of eternal youth, conscious rebellion through continued effort, often doomed to failure, to pursue relentlessly work forever, or, conversely, the indifference of daily trials and meditation reflection or prayer, to live this life as if it were and the other, broken all worldly ties. Old age is not divided from the rest of the previous life: it is the continuation of your youth, your youth, your maturity. Poet writes: Youth calls for the elderly through the years spent: / "What have you found?" He yells, "What you seek?". / "What you've found it, 'answered the old, crying: /" what you've searched for " (11). It reflects your outlook on life and change your attitude toward it, as have conceived life as an inaccessible mountain to climb, or as a current in the you are immersed and flows slowly toward the mouth, or a vague jungle that always insecure about the way forward out of it. There is the old calm and distressed, satisfied ... ----

... arrived safely at the end of his days, recalling the restless especially their exciting fall and expects the last of which we will not get up, who relishes his victory and he can not erase from memory his defeats. The old man who has gone mad, sad, not for themselves but for others, the victim of a cruel penance whose cause we ignore him and us. Cosima, the protagonist of the book of Sandra Petrignani says affectionately: "The old pussies are great, they are like mad children. Pursue any fantasy, until they no longer know what is fantasy and what their reality, life and had forgotten or wanted to forget. "
.
The world of old, all the old, is, more or less intense, the world of memory. It says at the end you are what you thought, loved, performed. I would add: you are what you remember. A wealth of yours, in addition to the affect that has nourished the thoughts that you thought, the actions we take, the memories you hold and you have not left erased, and the sole custodian you. That you are allowed to live until you leave the memories and you can turn abandon them. The dimension in which the old man lives is the past. The future time is too short to worry about what will happen. Old age, the patient said before, is short. But precisely because it is short, use your time not so much in doing projects for the distant future, that is not yours, as in trying to understand if you can, the meaning or meaninglessness of your life. Concentrate. Not dissipate the little time you have left. Back to go your way. You will assist the memories. But the memories do not emerge if you're not going to Ferret in the corners ...

.
... earliest memory. Remembering is a mental activity that often do not exercise because it is laborious and disruptive. But it is a healthy activity. In the remembrance you find yourself, your identity, despite the many years since, the thousand vicissitudes experienced. Find long lost years ago, the games as a child, faces, voices, the gestures of your classmates, the places, especially those of children, more distant in time but in memory sharper. Could you describe step by step, stone by stone, that road that ran between the fields of children to get out of the way to a farmhouse.
.
When visiting places of memory crowd around you dead, whose troops are more numerous each year. Most of those who accompanied you will have left. But you can not delete them as if they never existed. At the time that you call your mind relive at least a moment, and not dead at all, have not completely disappeared into nothingness: the teenager dead friend in a mountaineering accident, the schoolmate and games his plane disappeared during the war, whose body was never found and his family who waited years and years. You wonder why. Leone Ginzburg's death in a prison in Rome during the German occupation. Pavese's suicide. And come back to ask why.

.
I have referred to many old ways of living. Someone might ask: "And you, how do you live?" . I have hinted at this last part of my speech. I will say one word that I have a melancholy old age, understanding and awareness of melancholy ...

-
.... of the unreached and what no longer attainable. He fits well the image of life as a journey on which the target is always moving forward, and when you think you have reached it was not the one you'd appeared as final. Old age thus becomes the point at which you are aware that not only has traveled the road, but you no longer have time to go, and you give up achieving the final stage.
.
The melancholy is tempered, however, the constancy of affection that time is not consumed. ++++++

In "By way of prologue and dedication" , beginning of the book, it reads:
.
"This is a strange book. It can be considered the biography ..., can be the affirmation of a life consciously lived, exemplary, or embarrassing, the reader will judge ... It originated in many pleasant conversations between the author and two friends to whom the author appreciates the special way ... . To them I dedicate this book.

few anecdotes, so many memories, yearnings of youth and adolescence, student responsibilities, coping with life. All we remember for many days, sitting with a cup of coffee and a few drops of brandy. memory of an old working. The old remember and we need to remember. Then one day I started writing by hand, as it always did, without stopping, to vuelapluma, with the greed of the second, because the only thing we have is the old time. They, my friends were taking my processor notes, and it was this book that largely fills my life ... .

And at the end of the last page:

wizard hat Horse Stories
By: Reinaldo Spitaletta
El Espectador, Opinion 4 Jan 2011 - 4:31 pm http://www.elespectador.com/impreso/columna-243361-historias-de-caballos

HORSE STORIES There are many. Very close to the Colombians, is the novel The Moor, José Manuel Marroquín, this president who inherited a country and delivered two.

"My kingdom for a horse" is the desperate words of Richard III, the English king that Shakespeare immortalized in a historical drama. And I do not remember the kidnapping of the horse of a mobster, in dire times of Pablo Escobar, that almost makes his owner died.

have been very famous horses, including The Ubérrimo. How about Lazlo, the horse on which Mohammed made his expedition to Mecca. "The devil never dare enter a tent inhabited by an Arab horse," said the prophet. Oh, and of course, are historical Bucephalus, the Macedonian conqueror who never lost a battle, Incitatus, the evil Caligula; Babieca of that legendary Christian warrior win battles that followed after his death. And not to enlarge the list, Palomo, whose back Libertador smelled fresh.

Some may worry about Sire, or Pegasus, or Strategos or Xanthos, or Trojan, which, as I say, history and myth are full of these animals, which somebody said it was the most beautiful creation. In The Moor, which is an interesting novel, Miguel Antonio Caro, who was kind of clever irony, said that indeed seemed to be written by a horse.

And these days the horse stories have spread, thanks to patadon one of these specimens gave him former President Uribe on a farm in eastern Antioquia. The episode did, by analogy, some journalists remind the definition of what is news: If a man bites a dog, here is some news. Of course the reverse is also interesting. If a dog bites the pope, the president, the minister, the dictator, is also news.

The former president, an expert on horses, horse trader and experienced rider, those to which they are watered and not a drop of a cup of wine while astride, suffered a kick on his knee. This aroused all sorts of comments. The majority in favor of the animal, which has not known his name. For example, someone said that the poor horse, if he survived, what should be quarantined for disinfection.

There were also those who said it was like a "False positive" and trying to divert attention from the insults that the former president told him the journalist Coronell. Others cautioned that the horse may have been an ally of "terrorism" and that nothing unusual was that it would have possessed the souls of Tirofijo, Raul Reyes and Mono Jojoy.

not missed the prankster who said the horse was doing justice to all the corruption, bribery, carve-up of notaries, the "pikes" DAS "false positive" and other outrages presented in the eight years of rule called Lord of the shadows. " There were some more pointed, the say that the animal is able gangrene leg.

The fact aroused various reactions. It said it was a horse of the armies of Attila, who was a quadruped Chavez, that perhaps the animal was shocked to hear that "I give you in the face, fag." And there was the fire that year said the world was changing, as even the horses had exorcised the authoritarian spell.

The kingdom of crape

Ramiro Bejarano Guzmán,

Notes Attic, 2005 (Provided by Carlos Vidales)

Now Uribe went into the pages of history, to reveal his boundless passion for a horse that he brought to the capital from their land, or perhaps from the Ubérrimo, which visit the intensity of courtship seriously. Two or three times a week the president escapes a military garrison to visit the beast-pardon the expression, "rides until midnight to combat stress, and returns to his bed, getting up four hours later and handed to yoga , his other delusions.

As the quadruped that reveals the President is called crape, it is anticipated that this name comes from a bushy plume, as hair of the Minister of Culture festival. Fortunately, the animal stands by that and not her private parts, then who knows what would have baptized.

is not the first time, nor the last, in which the President is proof of his formidable equine culture, admired by many people of their land. For it is known that all pinchadito and stiff ride, carrying a cup of wine, which is not a single drop down when galloping, astonishing their partners muted.

Vladdo

This was found in the ineffable and publicized party at the farm of Antioquia patrician Manuel Santiago Mejia, during which he became the epicenter of the daring equestrian rider older, who in the midst of frantic agape, riding another crape or the same, cornered in a circle cartoonist genius that drew applause from his countrymen, who at the antics of so high spontaneous evoked the times when it shined in fairs and events privadísimos 8A memorable hot iron.

But she said the good thing about this whole story is that our head of state and belongs to the major league history. Soon, crape and President Uribe will appear in this gallery of famous men and horses, and that has to get excited because it will bring tourists to the country, especially now that this sector of the economy may be affected by the decision of Minister of Foreign Trade of call for his resignation Gustavo Adolfo Toro, director of Tourism effective, manager of the tourist season road "Viva Colombia, Travel by it." Uribe & Crepe

have already won a seat in the auditorium where they are already "Pegasus", the flying steed of Zeus, the god of Greek mythology, "Xanthos," the horse of Achilles, of divine origin, which together with "Bali" shaped pair of chestnuts from the Iliad, "Bucephalus", the companion of the great Alexander the Great, the warrior who was never defeated, "Strategos" with Hannibal crossed the Alps, "Incitatus" (or momentum), the English hack made famous Caligula, which ensures that in addition to having made a senator, the deranged emperor ate and slept in the stables and since the eve of the races decreed absolute silence in the city, on pain of death to those who disturb the mammal Perissodactyla, "Sire," the man Trotter feet, which Julius Caesar crossed the Rubicon, "Babieca", which led the body of the Cid in front of his troops, who lived to the incredible age of 40 years, "Marengo", the spirited Arab jaco Napoleon captured after Waterloo and taken to England, whose skeleton is preserved in the National Army Museum at Sandhurst, "Palomo" the Liberator Bolivar Rocinante, Don Quixote's palfrey.

Finally, many of you will be proud that this has been the system of horses, unless the Constitutional Court let the crepe the facts. ~ ~ ~

the years The good new is that in addition to good intentions that most of the time of breach, give us the opportunity to reflect on various topics that the commitments of everyday life, often trivial, we refuse with multiple emergencies. But these days leisure time they may become creative allow us to ruminate in depth certain circumstances, certain facts that usually we take for granted but which must be brought from time to time on the table what is necessary, what is truly important in our life journey. And one of them is precisely the value, the unique characteristics of friendship.
.
I say, much has been written about friendship. And it is true, since Plato wrote, "Lysis, or Friendship, much ink has flowed on the subject. Remember some authors and titles, Henry Miller gave us a warm and excited vision of their neighborhood friends, their buddies Brooklyn the "Book of My Friends" , Antoine de Saint Exupery, devotes the eighth chapter of his most famous work, "The Prince" to explain how the protagonist can make friends with the wolves, Sandor Marai in "last meeting" makes an enthusiastic version of the relationship of two friends meeting after forty years and forgive all his disloyalty, and that after all the only ones who still love after know are friends. Because they are friends who accept our many weaknesses and enhance our few virtues, and they are the followers of the common and relentless filias collaborators of phobias that distinguish us about other things. For example, a friend know what to expect when we recommend a movie, book or restaurant, but in the same way we pay each other to hate who is under common dislikes.
.
why it is intolerable when we suffer for a lack of love, an equity crisis, absence, illness or any circumstances in which life shows sometimes unfair and unforgiving. We would somehow have the virtue of a kindly dwarf to correct the sentence that is overwhelming our friend, to give the surprise of a miracle cure be the panacea for their tribulations. But we are the youngest of children. An ant has more power than us. We left it a potion effective, none other than the immense love you always, as a perpetual electric lamp, shine in our hearts as a friend. ------

In recent weeks, looking askance and scowl, has been in the viewer an interesting debate between two valuable intellectual Colombians Alejandro Gaviria and William Ospina.

Other writers have got chance in the matter, but I will confine myself Gaviria Ospina and (the fire and ice) because their positions represent the two opposite ends, and lend themselves easily to make a caricature of antagonistic attitudes. If caricature is to simplify your ideas or to mock of their positions, but that will more clearly understand the debate.

The discrepancy starts from the same style, ie, from the rhetorical strategy of each. Ospina, poet, uses the sermon weapons lyrical and emotional appeals more to emotion than reason, the typical, in his case, is the anaphora (repeating the same words at the beginning of each sentence). Gaviria, technical, economic expert, use the scalpel cream of scientific knowledge, his favorite rhetorical figure is sarcasm, biting the mystics and the superstitious are magical and metaphysical grounds where so there is the brutal action of nature. The cause of the dispute is simple: whether it is winter disasters are the fault of man (society, government, technology arrogant and transplanted without destination from other latitudes, as he thinks Ospina) or an inevitable result of blind nature, as he thinks Gaviria.

worth hearing the arguments in their own words. I will not offend the reader's intelligence by telling who is who. It will be easy to recognize when they talk about our land and what we should do with it. One of them should do a tribute to nature, which is "an ode to the snowy mountains of the western wall of Tolima, a hymn to the waters by bringing down fertility to the valleys, song to the plains where rice crops glows and where to take shadow down the hawks and eagles, a hymn to the river despite the offerings that degrade our cities is taking fish and herons, canoes and music. " For the other, simply: "We suffered the worst downpours of the last forty years. We live in a country with a geography difficult, almost impossible. Settlements on mountain slopes and riverbanks are not new. Not going away. They are part of this country. " That may choose: the dreamy lyricism and cynicism of events beyond our control.

For William, we should recover the wisdom of our indigenous ancestors, who lived in idyllic harmony with nature, with the Pacha Mama, and for the same reason it does not beat them. To Gaviria, although not denying that corruption and poor policy decisions exacerbate environmental emergencies, the tragedy in Colombia is a natural calamity not guilty: it is Gaia that the gods come and send us the form watery punishment. This controversy, and these local positions, played a dispute planetary climate change is a natural cycle of the earth, or a sudden change prompted by the environmental damage caused by man.
worth
Here, finally, that I put my fair mask, to propose a third way somewhere between the two positions (or so lyrical and so many facts, say), and to use the rhetorical strategy of ironic balance. I will not. And not because I want to hide what everyone is or purports to be, but because someone else already did: Rodrigo Uprimny , heavily weighted in an article, laid a more sensible: "Environmental Justice and floods" * . Read it. Over this article, and no time to make another, I realize that on the same subject, and with better words, I had written during my vacation, Mauricio García :
Economics and poetry " ( http://ntc-documentos.blogspot.com/2010_12_28_archive.html ) . I recommend it. -----

* Environmental Justice and floods
By: Rodrigo Uprimny

THE SPECTATOR. Opinion December 20, 2010 - 9:58 pm http://www.elespectador.com/columna-241520-justicia-ambiental-e-inundaciones

Runaway THIS WINTER WILL NOT affect everyone equally. For some of us represents a slight discomfort.

But for millions of Colombians who were living in very precarious situations of poverty, floods have been a tragedy, since they seized the little they had.

rains have been so harsh social impact differently, they have not equally affected rich and poor, which is always fruitful to analyze these disasters in the light of the "environmental justice."

This vision was developed in the United States during the social struggles of the sixties against poverty and racial discrimination, when activists and some scholars have found that environmental degradation affects especially the poor and afros, who had little impact on policy decisions. In turn, other studies showed that the contamination arose especially the consumption patterns of middle and upper classes.

These findings are the basis of environmental justice, whose basic thesis is that environmental degradation and natural hazards are not neutral from the point of view of social justice. Environmental dynamics are unfair because the poor and disadvantaged who suffer most from pollution or disasters, while the middle and upper classes not only are often the most polluting, but have greater impact on policy decisions and better protection against disasters. To put a bit of propaganda, while the poor and disadvantaged who suffer most from environmental degradation and disasters, the rich are the largest polluters and those who end up deciding on environmental policies.
.
The fundamental idea of \u200b\u200benvironmental justice is therefore not sufficient to achieve sustainable development and prevent natural disasters. These objectives are obviously far reaching. But it is also essential, when defining environmental policies incorporate criteria equity, so they are fairly distributed among all the benefits of sustainability and the mitigation of natural risks and burdens to achieve them. I also need to establish participatory mechanisms for potentially affected, ie the poor and disadvantaged, have a powerful voice in environmental decisions.
. Winter
This tragedy is perhaps the worst natural disaster that Colombia has experienced. Although the number of fatalities has been, fortunately lower than in other disasters, such as the Armero, the overall impact is terrible. More than two million people, especially the poor, have been severely affected.
.
Some might argue that this is excessive blame the consumerism of the rich by the floods. It is true that the causal link is not direct. But it appears that the unusual increase in rainfall from climate change. In any case, even against unforeseen natural disasters, like earthquakes, the vulnerability of the poor tends to be higher as the social dynamics have to live the most risky, sometimes even encouragement of local governments. For example, in Cordoba, it is known that flooded areas are those of the left bank of the Sinu River and this is where local governments have promoted the homes of the poor.
.
crises and disasters are always painful, but may also be opportunities. This tragedy winter would then be an opportunity to reverse our terrible environmental injustice and even to rethink certain economic strategies. Can we get into the mining locomotive without thinking of its possible environmental injustice?

http://www.elespectador.com/impreso/columna-243910-bandadas-y-el magnetic-pole-Printed Jan. 9.

the 5,000 red-winged Oriole SERGEANT that rained on Arkansas, 500 Louisiana blackbirds and starlings, jackdaws Falköping the 100 in Sweden, the dozens of unidentified birds of Kentucky, dozens of birds pechiamarillos of Chihuahua, 10,000 wild birds in Manitoba, 8,000 pigeons in Italy ... are a fact of death of winter flocks in times of exceptionally warned and reported by the media this year, or is the emergence of an unexpected, unsettling and unknown?

And if we add the 100,000 dead in Arkansas drum fish, millions of dead minnows of Maryland, thousands of dead fish from Florida, one hundred tons of fish of Brazil, hundreds of snappers New Zealand, and 40,000 crabs in Great Britain, all in the span of less than two weeks ... we have a series of natural accidents caused by cold, and want some, by tornadoes, how they want others, fireworks the end of the year, as claimed by others?

The truth is that something is happening, and in a few days we will know if this is a series of random events or a transcendent fact of planetary proportions. For now has begun the onslaught of rumors and speculation. "Before they began to drop dead a loud noise was heard, witnesses said Beebe, Arkansas, after the rain of jays, at midnight on New Year's Eve. "There were dozens of dead birds in my yard for several days," said a woman from Kentucky, but only dared to tell when he discovered what was happening elsewhere. Rain Bird of Chihuahua had occurred on December 22 but only began to be alarming after episodes earlier this year.

State agencies have been quick to reassure the public with the case less reassuring. To say that birds are nervous and that stress can lead to death from Genesis would require flocks of birds are dropping dead everywhere, and there appears to be the case. Acknowledge the fact the fireworks of Arkansas fails to explain almost all other phenomena. Speaking of thunderstorms and tornadoes, pollution, high altitude hailstorms like the one in 1973 killed hundreds of ducks in Stuttgart, guiltily ignores many facts have been reported in the southern hemisphere, and that at this time also include fish and crabs.

The 17 autopsies of birds made in Arkansas reveal severe trauma and internal bleeding, but no way of knowing if these abnormalities were the cause of the fall or resulted from it. Previous episodes also serve who only wants to reassure, and Mexico has brought to mind two: the death of 25,000 migratory birds at Silva Reservoir, in the municipality of San Francisco del Rincon, in 1994, and the death of 12,800 birds at Coyote Dam, not far from there in 2004.

Needless to say, the film Birds Hitchcock has become an object of curiosity for Internet addicts, and to witness its final scenes, with a history of recent events, is truly impressive. But mankind loves intrigue, and yesterday he was no longer linking episodes of dead birds to an alleged conspiracy plot involving the development of an American chemical weapon, the war in Afghanistan, killing four days of military advisor John Wheeler , and release into the atmosphere of a substance called phosgene.

For me it is essential to note that so far spoken of the death of entire flocks in flight. There is no evidence that birds isolated are dying. Someone mentioned the possibility that the flocks are misleading their way or lose their ability to steer, and sometimes collide with each other, or to turn away from unwanted areas. Pigeons killed in Italy were the blue peaks and that seems to show that they have erred and traced to regions where the atmosphere lacked oxygen.

And one of the most disturbing explanation has to do with changing the Earth's magnetic pole, which according to some are moving and as others are being reversed. It is possible that this change is influencing the loss of flocks of birds and could also explain the death of the schools and accidents of fish stocks.

Some people think we're in the prelude to the doomsday of 2012. But all that belongs to the realm of speculation. The only certainty is that in this case the death of the birds we have not heard everything. And perhaps most importantly we were not disclosed. -----

Any controversy?
By:
William Ospina
El Espectador, 16 Jan 2011 - 1:00 am http://www.elespectador.com/impreso/columna-245064-una-polemica

in our country we so little accustomed to dialogue, that whatever we call it a controversy.

In recent days I hear that Alejandro Gaviria and I are locked in a controversy, just because one day I spoke of the ravages of winter and added, as a vague premonition that perhaps Alexander would not agree with my opinions. It happened the same day that Alexander wrote on the subject in the sense that I had anticipated.

We have not reached a controversial, only express, for once, and without insistence, our disagreement. But some friends have raw on the subject, and it is they who truly try to give some flavor of controversy to what initially was not intended to be. Alas, the controversy seems to real, have seen fit, and not all, of course, summarize our positions, thus achieving not only the arguments but very different result issuers and picturesque. Hector Abad, a great writer and a great friend, for example, has decided to resort to caricature.

The truth is that there is still so controversial. In a separate column talked about the disaster of Armero and cultural appropriateness in terms of paying tribute to the victims and the nature in which turned this tragedy. Do not know why Hector mix and confuse the two columns and decide that my recommendation to deal with disasters of this nature is recommended tribute to commemorate the tragedy of Armero.

I think it's nothing like the knowledge of the world we live will help us to anticipate natural disasters and to respond appropriately to its challenges. Pretend that this tribute to which I refer is my recommendation to address the problems of winter is to reduce the argument to absurdity.

When I spoke of the complex system of channels Zenúes said only that people had technical knowledge and developed large hydraulic solutions, and our national culture even that has been achieved. I know it's in bad taste quoted, but I am compelled to do so. The Zenúes, said, "and knew a thousand years ago to control flooding regime and use it to convert the floodplain areas of cultivation. Five hundred thousand hectares of channels are an extraordinary testimony of hydraulic civilization, without any of the technical resources of the modern world, they created this marvel of engineering that still survives, even as a vestige of a culture issue .... " Hector

that argument becomes this: "to William should recover the wisdom of our indigenous ancestors, who lived in harmony with nature idyll, with the Pacha Mama, and for the same reason it does not beat them. "

Where do you, Hector, that harmonic romance with nature, the Pacha Mama of which I have not spoken, and why I choose to think that nature, like a lady full of good will, for that why not beat them? No you're doing your readers a favor simplifying my arguments. And to think that at first said no caricatured us to simplify our ideas but to be understood more clearly the debate. I think

pay tribute to nature is not to sit to pray: it is studying, is known, is respected, no predators, not pollute, do not raze the forests, and, of course, recognized in our literature, our music, our arts. Pretend that my prescription to face the winter comes down to do a song to the walls of the mountains and that Alexander is resigned to the fury of nature, just to reduce the arguments and make the alleged controversy nonsense.

At another point in my text said it was convenient: "think of the enormous need for applied knowledge that these lands are ours to make prosperity the inexhaustible treasure of water ...." I do not know why that means that my language uses "weapons emotional sermon lyrical and appeals more to emotion than reason. "

In this case, and that does not diminish at all the affection I feel for him, Hector is not fair to my arguments, I translated into your own code and how readers a false idea of \u200b\u200bwhat I said. I have not said much, but if anyone is interested in knowing what I think, would advise you not believe in the version of Hector, and rather read my column.

I will not distrust the intelligence of readers. Nor have I played, play, to tell you how he thinks, pretending that I do for you to understand more clearly. ---

How to pay the operators of coal for environmental damage left?

What price we pay for our coal resources to deliver and enjoy your earnings? Environmental legislation has been almost non-existent in Colombia against the urge to sell all the coal, before the postmodern world lost interest in him. The ideal coexistence of coal mining and tourism development has not proven viable, judging from the environmental cost of the operations of the company Drummond both in the Magdalena and Cesar.

Drummond is selling the business in Colombia. The U.S. multinational would be asking between 8 and 10,000 million dollars by total assets, with clear intentions to leave quickly from here.

Why go now a country that has given in concession, only Cesar, an area of \u200b\u200b47,000 hectares of farm-size one-third of Bogotá, where there are 1,700 million tonnes in coal reserves, something that would ensure 60 years of incalculable enrichment?

Four companies have expressed interest in buying, but are evaluating the status of all operations, especially environmental damage. Some claim that exceeds the sum proposed by Drummond in the sale.

Are we going to stop selling and go just like that?

I wonder if the Colombian government a measure of the damage caused by mineral dust Drummond barges released every day on the sea and the beaches between Santa Marta and Cienaga and the thousands and thousands of tons of ore , driven by winter storms, thrown into the seabed, destroying it every vestige of life.

The Drummond annually draws thousands of millions of dollars in high-quality Colombian coal. The company's profits are enhanced by benefits tax as a refund of VAT and income tax. Is also exempt from tax on industry and trade and property tax on nearly 20,000 acres, in exchange for 10 percent of royalties to the mouth of mine for our country. Bad royalties settled, as evidenced by a fine of $ 48 million, paid a couple of years.

The Drummond often violate their security protocols and social responsibility in Colombia. Three leaders of their union were murdered six years ago under conditions yet to be explained. The company has faced three strikes and insecurity due to frequent industrial accidents, injuries and illnesses, job stability and lack of social investment in compensation for damage inflicted on people in the area where the mine is built, or who live along the corridor all coal. There have been several civic strikes in protest at the presence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, especially among children and the elderly. Now the country knows Asotred (Sick Workers Association in Drummond), which bring together since 2008 to 599 health workers involved in the mine of this entity.

is necessary, we repeat here that the Government abandon its attitude kneeling in front of the offer and the behavior of multinationals. It is necessary that requires them and help them minimize the damage social and environmental impacts of their operations. It is your duty to defend the rights of citizens, taking care of the national heritage and predict the consequences of the activities that may impact the daily lives of their communities.

The Constitution also supports many forms of citizen participation, to demand information, explanation, justification and legitimacy of the processes and methods used in the exploitation of our natural resources. -----

Question: What is the publishing history of Condors, your best-selling novel?

Answer: editions Condors are divided into legal and pirated. The first edition was made in Barcelona by Destination but as they Mercado had no distributor, and the book took flight from the start, the pirated editions that were not so easy to make at that time, began to abound so desperate.
. Otto Morales Benítez
helped me get a publisher to do a massive print run a year later to curb piracy. Guayaquil Ediciones Ariel did a print run of 300,000 copies of which only received a lump sum, no score and the book was sold at the cheapest price possible. Meanwhile Destination editions followed out. When I edited in Plaza y Janes (for Destiny said they did not edit that kind of books), Condors Plaza passed and began to take issues year after year. Recently made in that editorial issues in a popular format for ten years but always recorded as the seventh edition to not pay royalties and to continue publishing because it reminds me of copyright to complete this issue ... Thereafter the book is out published in El Ancora, Panamericana, Ballantine Books, Intermediate, Weather, Black Sheep and I do not know how many more. On those issues I still have paid fixed amounts. For the latter, who took the time I paid three million pesos for six months (one thousand U.S. dollars !!!).
(See cover and details below)
.
If an account of the issues would be over the legal 60. Pirates of every day I get more surprises. I managed to complete in my library Alcañiz (you know where everything is envolata) almost 90 editions. While I was arrested I was carrying ten more. Since then I've got another nine more. Last week I found a different one at the Congress of Writers and Aranzazú Caicedonia the week had caught a different one rather than put me to sign but I could not buy or change.
.
The novel has never been translated .... to any other language. The last time I tried, Annuziatta Campa of Pisa, failed.

Catholic, conservative, model citizen, is suddenly infected by the virus of sectarianism, and becomes a murderer, who heads a gang of murderers who are believed touched by the divine mission to exterminate the godless liberals. Condors do not bury every day gives novel is the story, and true, a real character, Leon Maria Lozano , nicknamed El Condor , which unleashed on the community of Tulua a wave of terror and death on behalf of "principles" political and religious, from above, ordered the persecution and slaughter of enemies, ie those who do not think like those who rule. Dear friends
Cordial greetings. As reported on the book by Jonathan Tittle * Newspaper and Uden (No. 1 April-May 2008) * the novel "Condors do not bury every day" of GAG was written entirely in Torobajo.
We were looking for information and records in the web of the U. , http://www.udenar.edu.co/ on this issue and stay (June 1970-January 1972) of GAG in the U. Nariño and little was found. For research and compilations
we are doing to the conclusion that we project over 40 years "Condors" (1), many would appreciate if we collaborate by providing as much information as possible about the subject and stay GAG in Uden. One of the details we wanted to document, among many others, is what the "plaque in memory of this deed" and if possible get photographs of the site ("cubicle") and plate.
We anticipate our thanks. Sincerely,
