Who are the protagonists of African literature in Colombia? Few know . Review by the authors who left the Coast to sail over the letters.

Oscar Collazos Oscar Collazos
knows what it means to be a representative of the letters of the Pacific: born in Bahía Solano, Chocó, and much of his youth was spent between Buenaventura and Cali.
also knows what is to become a writer despite the adversity. Years ago, standing before a group of young people of Siloam, he confessed: "The greatest achievement of my life is that I become a writer to be poor. In my house there were no books, only similarity was the Reader's Digest and Popular Mechanics. I spent my childhood without reading. "
None of this is evident in his prolific literary work. Author of more than 25 novels, essays, short stories and biographies, at 67 years is considered one of the pioneers of the urban novel that was made to literature in the 70's. Among his books are weighted 'Chronicle of a mirror dead, "Goodbye to the Virgin', 'The murdered model' and 'Battle on Mount Venus", one of his most recent. - ALFREDO VANINA
Born in 1950 to Saija the river that bathes the town of Timbiquí in Cauca. Writer, journalist, researcher and teacher, but above all a poet, at age 14 began writing his work with 'live Claiming' (1967).
With the sea as the setting for many of his lyrics, much of the value of the work of Vanin is based on his complex worldview as African-American, Hispanic and indigenous at the same time. Hence, his poems are peppered with stories of fishermen, mermaids, cliffs and gold prospectors. And his spirit as an intellectual is turned to the rescue of the African roots of the Colombian and the orality of coastal towns.
In his 40-year literary career and influenced further their studies so-ber Greek mythology, has published the li-bros 'Claiming live', 'Cimarron in the Rain' and 'Islario'. lines of his stories and poems are woven around themes rather different: the sea breeze lulls his native Buenaventura, the history of West Indian music or worship that American surrender him to death.
From this last speech of the weighted novels Satizabal Medardo Arias, 'That is a breath of life', which reconstructs, and not for music but for the enjoyment of literature, life and death of the mythical tango singer Carlos Cardel. The story not only dragged readers also was a finalist for the Premio Nacional de Novela de Colombia, 1998.

ANIBAL ARIAS Born in BBQ, Nariño, Aníbal Arias is one of the most prominent pens poetry Pacific coast. in some way by the social upheavals of the 60 who sought respect for fundamental rights, the legacy of Palacios is important as it has served as a forum for vindication of society, especially the African world.
After trying, unsuccessfully, to study law, he sought refuge in Paris, the city has served as an accomplice in his writing: 'The jungle and rain', 'The duende and guitar: Legends Choco', 'Panorama black literature '(published in Italian and French) and ' Looking for my madrededios' * , his greatest gift to the lyrics of the Coast. is known for being a great storyteller of the port. Thanks to the Universidad del Valle published his only book "Long live the comrades'. His daughters, Sonia and Colombia, writers have picked up their literary heritage.
